v1.0 — Source-Verified Release

The Beta label comes off. What "1.0" means here, per the milestone Source Notes defined for itself: every closable needs-source row is closed, resolved as standing policy, or explicitly deferred by owner decision — clause-level verifications landed against the actual texts of J-STD-046A (PCN silence-is-acceptance, §4.2.3.1/§4.2.3.2) and NASA-STD-8739.4 (§12.3.3 contact-conductor combinations), the EIA-364 anchor situation was checked against the live DLA portal (and its August 2026 hostname migration absorbed), the IEC full-text and hobby-track rows carry recorded decisions instead of open promises, and the per-design permanent rows stand as the standing warnings they were always meant to be. The release also completes the lifecycle/qualification/low-level content plan: three topic deep dives (Low-Level Signals and Contact Design; the Connector Qualification Plan Template; Lifecycle and Procurement Integrity), six new house-style diagrams closing the visual backlog's line-art list, and the one-wire-per-crimp-barrel rule documented across both tracks. Details in the entries below.

Removed

  • Removed the obsolete PDF release workflow. The guide is published as a Docusaurus site; releases no longer build or attach per-track PDF artifacts.
  • Removed the unused monolithic Source/ copies and completed migration reports. Published Markdown under docs/ is now the sole content source of truth.

Changed

  • v1.0 tracker dispositioned to zero open gates (2026-08) — the last two closable items settled by decision, completing the pre-release sweep. (1) The remaining open hobby-track sourcing rows (tiny-terminal crimp application specs, screw-terminal torque-class and EIAJ RC-5320A figures, FFC cycle expectations, the AMASS/Deans hosting upgrades) are explicitly deferred past v1.0 by owner decision: the hobby tracker's lede records the decision, each open row carries a deferred-post-1.0 note, every affected page keeps its verify-the-exact-part hedge, and the appendix's hobby pointer row is marked resolved-for-v1.0 — the tracker remains the authoritative backlog. (2) The plating-whitepaper hosting row is resolved as documented: a third deliberate search round found no TE-hosted copies of Golden Rules / The Tin Commandments, so the labeled third-party-hosted copies are the terminal state (Weather-Pack precedent), re-checked each audit. With these, every closable row in §4 is closed, resolved as policy, or explicitly deferred — the per-design permanent rows stand as designed, and nothing in the source tracker gates the v1.0 cut.

  • EIA-364 anchors checked, DLA portal migration absorbed, IEC review resolved as policy (audit 2026-08) — three v1.0-tracker items settled in one pass. (1) The EIA-364 adoption-notice upgrade was checked directly against the DLA MilSpec portal: of the methods the qualification template names, only -23 has a stable public adoption-notice URL; -09/-20/-21/-28/-46/-66/-70 return nothing at the download path, so their authorized-reseller listings and the labeled lab index are now the documented best public anchors, and that needs-source row is closed as a terminal state rather than an open upgrade. (2) In the same check, the DLA portal's August 2026 migration from landandmaritimeapps.dla.mil to weaponssupportapps.dla.mil was discovered breaking the guide's two existing -23 citations (low-level page, qualification template) — both migrated to the new hostname with the move noted inline. (3) The M8/M12 IEC row is resolved as standing policy: current-edition webstore listings cited at abstract level with edition/date recorded, full-text purchase deliberately not pursued — scope claims stay qualitative and edition-stamped, re-checked each audit.

  • NASA-STD-8739.4 clause verified (audit 2026-08) — the one-wire-per-barrel rule gains its workmanship-standard backing at clause level: §12.3.3 Allowable Contact-Conductor Combinations — "The contact-conductor combinations shall be in accordance with manufacturer's recommendations" (single-sentence quote from a U.S. government work; Rev A w/Change 4 is the standards.nasa.gov posting current at this writing). The clause defers to the manufacturer's documentation rather than naming a wire count — which is precisely the structural argument the crimping page and §5.2 already made, now quoted rather than inferred, and paired with the Molex dual-wire test summary as the worked example of a conforming combination. Crimping-page footnote added, verified-claims row added, and the needs-source row closed — zeroing the clause-verification items on the v1.0 closable list.

  • J-STD-046 clause verified (audit 2026-08) — the lifecycle page's silence-is-acceptance claim upgraded from lineage-summary hedging to clause-level citation against the actual J-STD-046A text (November 2025, revision of J-STD-046 July 2016): §4.2.3.1 (acknowledge a PCN within 30 days of delivery; 30-day silence constitutes acceptance) and §4.2.3.2 (post-acknowledgement 90-day silence likewise constitutes acceptance). Accuracy upgrade in the same pass: the standard is a joint JEDEC/ECIA/IPC electronics-industry standard — ECIA being the connector industry's association — so the page no longer frames the notification standards as semiconductor-world-only. The verified-claims row now carries the clause identities and the closable needs-source row is closed; one clause-verification row (NASA-STD-8739.4 wire count) remains open on the v1.0 list.

  • Repository layout cleanup — moved GitHub community and citation files under .github/, moved this changelog under docs/project/, moved active visual planning notes under .github/maintainers/, and colocated the OG-card source with its rendering script.

  • Repository audit hardening — replaced the third-party Pages retry wrapper with the official deployment action and pinned every active GitHub Action to a full commit SHA; bounded CI jobs to 15 minutes; added a pre-build image-signature gate that rejects ICNS/JXL/HEIF/AVIF inputs before Docusaurus reaches the vulnerable image-size parser; refreshed five dead manufacturer citations across the Powerpole, M23, and servo pages; and brought package-lock.json into the version-sync contract so future release bumps update and verify it automatically.

  • Re-audit polish batch (2026-08) — every finding from the post-merge re-audit of the fix/Micro-Fit/Control-Box wave. The one P1: the Control Box's rejected-connectors table attributed a gland rule to the budget path that the path doesn't state — the reasoning now stands on its own (and the same over-attribution pattern was cleaned from its sensors row and the M12 example's gland rejection). P2s: the three remaining four-deep-dive rosters (README, decision-paths index, §9) now count five with Micro-Fit; the Micro-Fit page's TPA aside now points at §2 (where TPA is actually defined) and recommends a checklist row instead of claiming one exists; the Micro-Fit+ mention no longer leans on a footnote that doesn't carry it; the Control Box's "six same-size connectors" is now the accurate nine-across-six-interface-types; and this changelog's own fix-batch entry no longer contradicts the Added entry about the Control Box. P3s: the motor+feedback path's What-People-Forget pointer moved below the list it was splitting; the internal-PCB path's double link deduplicated; README's examples blurb gains the Control Box; the Micro-Fit entry's "A2" corrected to A3 and A4's Micro-Fit row linked; the hobby Verified JST bullet gains EH/ZH; the hobby roadmap gains a status row (18) for the long-existing JST-SM page; the Micro-Fit RMF sentence aligned with the glossary's "mating-force feature, not a current class" and its keying claim turned into a check-the-catalog instruction; the family-doc footnote pins Rev. 5; the Control Box's blind-mate/float aside re-attributed to §5 and its §12.4 reference linked; §2's "sealed variants" clause now names Squba as the sealed member vs. unsealed Micro-Fit (synced in Source/); the appendix dashboard's hobby line drops "expanded v0.9"; and the LED page's power-vs-signal link no longer mislabels a hobby page as engineering-track.

  • Full-site audit fix batch (2026-08, post-v0.10 wave) — every P1/P2 from the three-agent + scripted audit of merged main, plus the P3 wording sweep. P1s: the Rugged Control Box skeleton no longer misdescribed itself as a worked example (frontmatter and its three callers relabeled honestly — an interim state, since superseded by the Added entry below that works the example in full and flips the callers again; engineering-home's example list also gained M12 Sensor Interface); engineering-home's canonical-source paragraph now states the real contract (01–14 + appendix synced with Source/; 00 listed with the site-only material); the hobby needs-source lede no longer claims "none of these citations exist" above its own closure rows; the hobby Verified list gains the five missing audit-2026-08 entries (WAGO 221, Powerpole, Same Sky barrel + PJ-102A, Deans attribution, Molex FFC pitches) and the barrel/terminal example-only rows carve out their cited figures; the families servo capsule (and bad-listing Example 5) now state the center-positive pin order as the de-facto standard it is instead of "pin order varies." P2s: Source/source-notes.md regains the 18 under-reported "Used in" locations (matrix/templates/path mentions ported from the docs copy); §12's GH table row and upgrade-table mention now link the GH deep dive; EH and ZH join the hobby JST table as sourced rows (official JST PDF/product page — also making the GH page's ZH pointer true); the families page gains an Anderson Powerpole capsule with a Full-page link; the LED power-injection XT link and the barrel-jack Powerpole link retarget their deep dives; the hobby landing's Start-here list gains the Decision Guide (its first inbound content link); the README hobby line gains the Powerpole/servo/USB-C/barrel/terminals deep dives; the M12 example's draft admonition becomes a stable "illustrative composite" statement (no more dangling "being edited" promise); the internal-PCB path links the GH page with the does-not-intermate warning. P3 sweep: 26482 "Series 1/2" notation unified (§3 + Source) and the deep dive's coupling described as ~third-turn consistently; §2's fiber examples align on LC/SC (+ Source); A4's M12 row matches its footnote ("> 100"); §9's quick-map restores the load-bearing "only"s; the Metri-Pack row gains the 800 series its footnote names (+ Source); Exercise 2 gains the DEUTSCH ninth family to match its worked matrix (+ Source); the Amphenol Sine source-notes row records §3.2 in both copies; the debug path links USB-C power; dangling "or fiber" mentions link §2's fiber orientation; the tools index meta names the DEUTSCH worksheet and "Sections 10–11" links both sections; the two newest decision paths gain the standard What-People-Forget pointer; the hobby landing lists JST-RCY as capsule-only and drops the stale version-history admonition title; the PH roadmap item names its actual remaining work; the WAGO photo caption explains its third (JET) rating regime; the families intro credits its own cited capsules; and internal/PHOTO_BACKLOG.md catches up with the new deep pages.

  • Sourcing-hardening pass (audit 2026-08) — closed or upgraded every closable needs-source row found by search; permanent rows stay honestly open. Closed: JST EH/ZH now cited to the official JST EH PDF and JST ZH product page with figures in §12.2 (synced in Source/); DEUTSCH tooling closed to TE-authored documents — Application Specification 114-151004 (solid contacts) and the HDT-48-00 instruction sheet (solid-only, 12–20 AWG, DT/DTM/DTP/DTHD) — on the deep dive and decode worksheet; DEUTSCH DTHD and HD10 upgraded from distributor/industry citations to TE-direct pages and the TE HD10 catalog (HD10 row now reflects the sourced size-12/16 and 16+4 arrangements); WAGO 221 class figures cited to WAGO's own family page in the hobby capsule; FFC 0.5/1.0 mm pitch classes cited to Molex's Easy-On family page; the Deans/T-plug originator claim cited to W.S. Deans' own site. Still open, deliberately: Weather-Pack and the Han E 6–48 span (no manufacturer-hosted equivalents found), the Autosport catalog (TE-authored, distributor-hosted), EC/Traxxas/Tamiya-style/bullet ratings, barrel jacks and screw terminals, GX/SP clone claims, and every per-design — permanent row. Both source-notes copies and the hobby needs-source table updated with closure notes.

  • Cross-link + consistency batch (from the 2026-08 full-site audit): the four family deep dives (38999, 26482, M12, DEUTSCH) are now linked wherever their families are named — §2/§3 tables, §5/§6 examples, §9 scenario map, §12 upgrade table, §13/§14 exercises, appendix A2–A4, the comparison matrix rows, the decision-paths index, and the sealed-feedthrough / debug / high-current / defense / removable-module paths. §12 now also links the hobby track's v0.9 deep pages (Dupont, XH, PH, SH, XT) and the sealed-automotive middle ground both ways. Consistency fixes: A2 regains the size-23 (HD) contact row (matching §7.5, synced in Source/); A3 gains a sealed-automotive row; A4 gains the cited DEUTSCH/DRC 100-cycle row (synced in Source/) and its intro now names A4; the stale §5 "see Section 10" terminal-retention pointer now targets §12.3 (synced in Source/); glossary TPA/Wedgelock entries re-alphabetized and three entries gained their missing "See" links; engineering-home's source-discipline list now names the supplemental deep dives, Glossary, and Identification Workflow; source-notes release narrative extended through v0.10 (both copies) and its extensionless hobby links made file-based; the high-current path now names DEUTSCH DTP/DTHD and acknowledges the Powerpole photo; §9 gained deep-dive pointers and the two missing See-also lines; hobby roadmap gains JST-GH, JST-RCY, and IDC entries, the hobby landing lists the IDC capsule, and the stale Grove self-assessment on the Qwiic page was corrected.

Added

  • The doubled-wire rule: one wire per crimp barrel, documented everywhere it bites — the field improvisation done constantly and covered nowhere gets named across both tracks. The rule as stated: a crimp is qualified as a system (terminal, wire, tooling) for one conductor, and works by compressing that qualified fill into a gas-tight joint (cited to TE's crimping whitepapers); doubled wires never consolidate that way — one bundle stays loose, the joint corrodes, and a single-wire seal is defeated. The exception is stated with evidence: manufacturers qualify and publish specific dual-wire combinations (Molex's dual-wire test summary for the 5556 / Mini-Fit Jr. terminal, 2 × 22 AWG, cited as the exception that proves the rule) — no such document for your terminal means a proper splice, lever connector, or multi-wire-rated terminal instead. Landed in: a new Crimping rule bullet with the page's first Sources section; a fourth wrong panel ("two wires, one barrel") in hobby-crimp-good-vs-bad.svg, now a 2×2 fault grid; a §5.2 one-conductor-per-barrel paragraph; the §4 crimp design package gains wire-count-per-contact; a Red Flags row; a harness-inspection §2 checkbox; a What-People-Forget branch-points bullet (design the Y as a splice or it gets improvised); the LED power-injection page's branch-point sentence; a screw-terminals trap (two conductors in one clamp point, with twin ferrules as the purpose-made two-wire answer where the block allows); two verified source-notes rows + a closable needs-source row (cite the public workmanship clause directly — NASA-STD-8739.4 located, clause unverified); and a hobby source-notes verified bullet.

  • Three hobby-track diagrams, closing the v0.9 visual backlog (rows 5–7, the last open line-art items): hobby-crimp-good-vs-bad.svg (the good open-barrel crimp annotated — conductor wings on bare strands, insulation wings on jacket, strand tips just visible — beside the three classic wrongs: strip too long, strip too short, stray strand) embedded in Crimping with a caption that defers surface texture to the photo backlog's still-standing macro set; hobby-power-vs-signal.svg (three rows: milliamp signal path through a small connector, amps through the same connector making heat at contact resistance, and the rated/keyed pair with matched gauge and a fuse near the source) embedded in Power vs Signal; and hobby-led-power-injection.svg (data pigtail at the strip input vs. thick injection feeds landing mid-strip and far-end through rated connectors, with the through-the-data-connector path crossed out and the common-ground/no-back-feed note) embedded in JST-SM & LED Strings. Same discipline as the engineering-track batch: house line-art style, no new claims — each diagram restates only its page's already-sourced rules, with the no-universal-limits and calculation-not-length-rule hedges carried into the footers.

  • Three house-style diagrams for the new topic pages — closing visual-backlog rows 8–10 in the established line-art style (white card, #d0d7de border, navy line work, Arial): contact-interface-films.svg (tin's oxide film + fretting debris vs. gold's metal-to-metal a-spots, with the never-mate-gold-to-tin footer) embedded in Low-Level Signal Contacts §1; qualification-sequence.svg (config + FAI → baseline electricals → parallel example groups → re-measure → evidence record, with the exposure-alone-proves-nothing callout and shape-only footer) embedded in the Qualification Plan Template §5; and lifecycle-states.svg (active → NRND → EOL/LTB → obsolete with each state's forced decision, the customers-of-record callout, and a time axis) embedded in Lifecycle & Procurement §1. Each diagram restates only what its page already sources — no new claims — and carries the same schematic-only disclaimer discipline as the existing set.

  • Lifecycle and Procurement Integrity (docs/lifecycle-and-procurement.md) — Phase 3 of the content plan, completing it: the topic deep dive that connects §4's production-reality step, What People Forget's supply bullets, and the substitution red flag into one loop for keeping a released interface buildable over years. Seven sections: the four-state lifecycle model (active → NRND → EOL/LTB → obsolete, with distributor flags as hints and the manufacturer notice as the record, per the source hierarchy); PCN vs. discontinuance notices with the two channel traps — notices flow to customers of record, and silence-is-acceptance (commonly a 30-day window in the JESD46 lineage, hedged read-the-actual-notice) — plus the minimal receive/disposition/record loop; obsolescence management (SD-22 and IEC 62402 named at listing level; the guide's existing multi-source-family and second-source arguments given their lifecycle rationale); authorized vs. independent vs. marketplace distribution, traceability/CoC, the counterfeit-exposure-concentrates-where-obsolescence-ends correlation, the AS5553/AS6081/AS6496 + GIDEP + ERAI ecosystem named at listing level (incoming-inspection techniques deliberately out of lane), and the clone-as-counterfeit bridge to the hobby track; approved alternates recorded at design time with what "equivalent" must survive (plating class linking the gold-to-tin defect, tooling, qualification basis) and QPL families as the institutional version; vendor mixing in three cases (QPL design intent / standards-based normal practice / proprietary "compatibles" — never unverified), with the rule that mixing is an ICD-recorded decision; and requalification funneling into the qualification template's §7 trigger table (back-linked from that row). All standards cited as formalization context, never as requirements on the reader's program; the judgment content tracked as a source-notes heuristic. Wired in: sidebar (after §11), §4 Step-4 lifecycle paragraph, §6 lifecycle-status datasheet row, two What-People-Forget supply bullets, three Red Flags rows, three rows on both selection checklists (in sync), a design-review supply-integrity row, two new ICD fields (approved alternates; vendor-mixing basis), eight glossary entries (Authorized distributor, Broker, EOL/LTB, NRND, Obsolescence/DMSMS, PCN, Requalification, Traceability/CoC), the defense path's lifecycle vendor question, vendor-mixing links on the high-current (MC4) and motor+feedback (M23) paths, two-way hobby links (Buying Mating Parts, When Hobby Isn't Enough), engineering-home and README rosters, three verified source-notes rows + one heuristic + one closable needs-source row (J-STD-046 window clause), and a visual-backlog row for a lifecycle-state flow sketch.

  • Connector Qualification Plan Template (docs/tools/connector-qualification-template.md) — Phase 2 of the content plan: the Tools page for design-level qualification, closing the gap the Harness Inspection Checklist's new scope note now names (that page verifies built units; this one structures the evidence that the design itself holds). Built on the harness checklist's discipline — no test values, durations, sample sizes, sequences, or acceptance criteria anywhere, with a warning admonition making the governing spec the only authority and "can't name the passing document" finding #1. Seven sections: the §1 configuration block (qualification attaches to a documented configuration — contact P/Ns + plating, wire, seals, backshell, tooling, torque, site — not a family name); §2 qualification-vs-acceptance with the QPL-carries-it case and the record-who-decided rule; §3 plan header with the sequence-matters note (sequences come from the governing spec's qualification tables — deliberately not provided); §4 first article (SAE AS9102C named at listing level; performance data from non-conforming samples is data about some other design); §5 the requested test matrix — continuity, LLCR (linking the Phase-1 page), IR, DWV, thermal rise, shield bond, vibration with discontinuity monitoring during exposure, sealing (IEC 60529 via A1), and durability-then-re-measure — each row naming its EIA-364 method family at listing level (-09/-20/-21/-23/-28/-46/-66/-70, identities verified, no test content reproduced); §6 evidence capture (requirement source at paragraph level, baseline + result locations, pass/fail authority, anomalies recorded with disposition); §7 requalification triggers (manufacturer/site, plating, tooling, seal, change notices, "equivalent" substitution, new environment) — the table Phase 3's lifecycle page will link. Wired in: sidebar + Tools index row and meta description, harness-checklist scope note (two-way), design-review readiness row, ICD template test-requirements field (acceptance vs. qualification split), both selection checklists (§10 + tools twin, in sync: "qualification approach identified"), Rugged Control Box test-requirements line, glossary (First article inspection and Qualification testing added; DWV gains a See link), README tools roster, two verified source-notes rows + one heuristic + a needs-source row for SDO-direct method anchors, and a visual-backlog row for a qualification-sequence sketch.

  • Low-Level Signals and Contact Design (docs/low-level-signal-contacts.md) — Phase 1 of the lifecycle/qualification/low-level content plan (.github/maintainers/content-plan-lifecycle-qualification-low-level.md): the site's first topic deep dive, on why a contact that is fine at amps can fail at millivolts. Covers the film mechanism and the works-when-freshly-plugged failure signature; dry circuit defined through EIA-364-23's LLCR method (~20 mV / 100 mA measurement caps, cited to the DLA adoption notice, the 23E listing, and Samtec's LLCR explainer); minimum wetting current brought over from the relay world (Omron microload guidance — P-level reference values, oxide-film failure, gold-for-microloads — Mouser-hosted copy labeled as such); the gold-vs-tin mechanism pair (tin's fracture/extrusion conduction and its conditions per Tyco's Tin Commandments; gold's nobility, flash wear-through, and the Rule-12 never-mate-gold-to-tin rule per AMP/Tyco's Golden Rules — both third-party-hosted copies labeled, with a §4 needs-source row to replace them); fretting as the invisible, self-hiding low-level killer; the lane test ("does the manufacturer publish EIA-364-23-class data?") generalizing the Powerpole page's wrong-contact-lane argument; and a what-to-check datasheet table. No universal numeric limits asserted; the lane test and mitigation ordering recorded as heuristics in source-notes. Wired in: sidebar (after §6), §1.6 fretting row, §5.1 plating-table pointer, §6 plating + contact-resistance rows, two new Red Flags rows (gold-to-tin; mV/µA on tin/power contacts), glossary (Dry circuit + Wetting current added; Contact resistance and Fretting gain See links), engineering-home and README rosters, three decision-path bullets (debug/service plating-vs-cycles, industrial-sensor signal level, motor-feedback feedback-side plating), the Powerpole wrong-lane bullet, a new hobby Power vs Signal "other direction" section (signals through power contacts), four verified source-notes rows + one heuristic + one needs-source row, and a visual-backlog row for a contact-interface film sketch.

  • Rugged Control Box worked end to end (docs/examples/rugged-control-box.md) — the last all-TBD skeleton on the site becomes the third full worked example, closing Exercise 1's loop. The box's six interfaces (24 VDC in, Ethernet, CAN, four sensors, motor out, debug/service) are each taken through candidates → rejection reasoning → selection, deliberately landing the whole panel on one M12-class family with the standardization argument made explicit — and the engineering effort redirected to what that choice demands: keying/position-count separation among same-size connectors (with cross-mating behavior flagged verify-with-manufacturer, not assumed), chained-cap discipline for the unmated state, CAN end-termination as BOM line items per §8.5, and the D-vs-X honesty rule (10/100 assumed → D-coded, with the rate-change trigger recorded). Every table the skeleton promised is now worked at placeholder-P/N level — requirements with status gates, an eleven-row rejected-connectors table each naming its decision path, illustrative-only pinout with the colors-are-never-authority rule, cable-drawing rows, a full J2 ICD entry, seven risk/mitigation pairs, and five "what would change if…" escalations (M12-power → high-current path; motor → servo axis → M23; washdown; defense customer; one-big-multipole). Same two admonitions as the M12 example (illustrative composite; reasoning-not-shopping-list); zero new connector claims — everything by reference to §4/§5.7/§8/§12, the deep dives, and the decision paths. Callers updated: engineering-home, the examples index, and the defense path now call it the worked example it finally is.

  • Micro-Fit 3.0 deep dive (docs/micro-fit.md) — the site's most-recommended family finally gets its page, as a supplemental site-only deep dive beside 26482/DEUTSCH. Built around the property that makes people adopt it — one 3.00 mm contact system across wire-to-board, wire-to-wire, and panel-mount (with BMI blind-mate extensions) — and the two numbers nobody reads: current is a terminal P/N (≤8.5 A terminal-dependent, 10.0 A RMF, ~30–20 AWG span across the 43030 lineup) and the 30-cycle surprise (standard terminals ~30 mating cycles, ~250 with lubricated RMF — a configuration interface, not a quick-disconnect). Includes the Fit ladder disambiguation at relative scale — Nano-Fit 2.5 mm/~8 A, Micro-Fit 3.0, Mini-Fit Jr. 4.2 mm (the ATX connector), Mega-Fit 5.7 mm/~23 A, none intermating — plus TPA/keying discipline, the clone-kit warning, and the where-it-doesn't-belong boundary (no sealing — change family at the enclosure wall). Sources: the already-cited Molex family document joined by the governing product spec (PS-43045-001), Molex's own Nano-Fit/Mega-Fit/Fit-family pages, terminal part documentation, and labeled distributor references for the Mini-Fit class figure and ATX identification. New diagram micro-fit-ladder.svg. Wired in everywhere the family was already recommended: sidebar (after §12), engineering-home (deep-dive list + source-discipline list), §2 (both mentions), §9 (both), §12 (upgrade table + 12.1), §13 Exercise 2, A3, the comparison-matrix row, the internal-PCB path, the glossary RMF entry, a new hobby families capsule (with the Fit-ladder warning) plus Dupont-page and hobby-landing links, extended source-notes rows in both copies (987650-5984 + PS-43045-001; new Fit-ladder row), and the photo backlog.

  • USB-C Power for Hobby Projects (docs/hobby/usb-c-power.md) + JST-GH deep dive (docs/hobby/jst-gh.md) + JST-XH deepening — closing hobby roadmap items 8 and 11 and hardening item 1. USB-C: the negotiated-power model in three levels (legacy VBUS-on, Type-C current advertisement, PD), the 5.1 kΩ-per-CC-pin rule with the Raspberry Pi 4 shared-resistor case study (engineering-press coverage carrying Raspberry Pi's own confirmation, labeled), the source's Rp advertisement ladder (default / 1.5 A / 3 A @ 5 V per Infineon/Renesas documentation), the PD rungs 5/9/15/20 V + EPR 28/36/48 V to 240 W with e-marked/EPR cable rules per USB-IF's own publications, PD trigger-module cautions, and the mechanical section nobody budgets (through-hole shell stakes, panel-mount passthroughs, not-sealed); new diagram hobby-usbc-power.svg; closes the needs-source "USB connector guidance" row; §12.4 gains a docs-only cross-link. JST-GH: datasheet figures (1.25 mm, 2–15 circuits, positive latch, 1 A AWG #26 / 50 V), why the drone world standardized on it — the Pixhawk DS-009 connector standard and the DF13-friction-fit history per Pixhawk/Dronecode documentation, with the not-all-boards-follow-the-pinouts caveat — and the 1-point-something lookalike table (SH 1.0 / GH 1.25 latched / PicoBlade-style 1.25 friction — same pitch, does not intermate); new diagram hobby-jst-gh-id.svg. JST-XH: new "XH in detail" datasheet table (positions to 20, SXH-001T #28–22 vs SXH-002T #30–26 contacts, 3 A max / 250 V, top/side-entry headers) and a "balance-lead convention, decoded" section (cells-plus-one, B− plus ascending taps, cited to charger-ecosystem vendor documentation and labeled as convention with the meter-check hedge). All three wired into sidebar, capsules, landing lists, decision guide, confusion tables, roadmap, and the verified source-notes section.

  • Servo Connectors deep dive (docs/hobby/servo-connectors.md) — closes hobby roadmap item 6, the last of the "everywhere, undocumented" tier. The de-facto standard written down as such (no governing spec exists, and the page says so): the signal/+/− pin order with center-positive as only a partial safeguard; reversing the plug can still swap signal and ground, the color rule (red center, darkest negative, lightest signal) above any specific scheme, the JR-universal vs Futaba J housing distinction (bevel vs keyed tab, shave-to-universal) per vendor documentation, and the old-Airtronics polarity ghost cited to the conversion adapters that exist because of it. The "it's just Dupont" section carries both halves — true (0.1-inch interoperability) and trap (bare rows accept reversed and off-by-one placement, kit housings lack the safe-connect geometry). The current story gets real numbers, honestly labeled: the 0.1-inch contact class at ~3.5 A continuous / 5 A intermittent per servo maker ProModeler's engineering note (consistent with Amphenol's 3 A MiniPV figure already cited on the Dupont page), Savox-published stall currents to 5.7 A @ 7.4 V on a 1/5-scale servo, the 26/22/20 AWG wire ladder per vendor documentation, and the receiver-rail/BEC sizing discipline (linear-BEC current falls with pack voltage). New house-style diagram (hobby-servo-connector.svg); wired into the sidebar, family capsule, both hobby landing lists, decision guide, power-vs-signal table, bad-listing Example 5, the Dupont page, the motor+feedback path's hobby pointer, roadmap, and both verified/example-only source-notes sections.

  • Aptiv Weather-Pack joins the sealed-automotive family table (§3.2, synced in Source/) with distributor-cited family figures (1–6-way, triple-ribbed silicone seals, ~20 A class), a budget-path bullet and search term, and source-notes rows in both copies; §3.2 also gains the Amphenol Sine AT/ATM/ATP second-source note (synced), reconciling the family sets across §2, §3.2, and the DEUTSCH deep dive.

  • Motor + feedback cable decision path (docs/decision-paths/motor-feedback-cable.md) — the audit's last structural gap: servo/motor cabling had no routing and M23 appeared nowhere. Covers the M23-class power + signal pair (17–19-pole feedback class, power inserts, threaded and SpeedTec-style quick-lock couplings, multi-vendor per binder/TE Intercontec/Phoenix pages), M17/M40 siblings, drive-ecosystem cordsets as the usually-right answer, one-cable servo notes, and the EMC discipline (360° shields both ends per the drive manual, power/feedback separation) with a new diagram (motor-feedback-cabling.svg). New §3.1 Part A/B and A3 rows (synced in Source/), engineering-home Start Here card, index row, sidebar, §9 motor-power See-also, source-notes rows in both copies (no governing-standard number asserted; cross-vendor intermating flagged verify). README count updated to thirteen.

  • Name-drop sweep (from the 2026-08 audit's tier-2 list) — families a reader will meet, each placed where they'd meet it, all qualitative/identification-level with verify hedges: MIL-DTL-5015 / "MS-style" legacy circulars (26482 page + defense path), LEMO/ODU/Fischer-class push-pull and the OBD-II J1962 / J1939 HD10 standardized vehicle diagnostic ports (debug/service path), DIN 43650 valve connectors and 7/8-inch mini-change (industrial-sensor path + search terms), MC4-style PV with its not-load-break and no-brand-mixing cautions (high-current path), Nano-D MIL-DTL-32139 (Micro-D path), and ix Industrial (IEC 61076-3-124) + Single Pair Ethernet (IEC 63171) as horizon options (rugged-Ethernet path). Hobby track gains two new capsules in Common Families — FFC/FPC flat-flex (ZIF) and GX/SP-style "aviation / waterproof" circulars (naming-trap and listing-skepticism guidance, closing the loop on the track's "waterproof means nothing" warnings) — with the landing coverage list, roadmap (items 15–16), and needs-source table updated.

  • Board-to-board decision path (docs/decision-paths/board-to-board.md) — closes the audit's clearest structural gap (§2 named the category; nothing routed it). Covers stacking headers, shrouded pairs, 2 mm/1.27 mm strips, fine-pitch mezzanine (DF40/SlimStack/Samtec class), card edge, DIN 41612 / IEC 60603-2 backplane, and pogo arrays, built around the two board-to-board rules: the standoffs carry the load, and the pair is ordered to the mated stack height (new house-style diagram board-to-board-stack.svg). Deliberately number-free, per decision-path convention. Wired in everywhere the category appears: new §3.1 Part A/B rows and an A3 row (all synced in Source/), the §2 category link, a new engineering-home Start Here card, the decision-paths index, sidebar, an internal-PCB-harnessing cross-reference, and Mezzanine / Stack height glossary entries. README's decision-path list corrected to twelve (it said ten and omitted Micro-D).

  • Anderson Powerpole deep dive (docs/hobby/anderson-powerpole.md) — the genderless power system in full: one PP15/45 housing accepting 15/30/45 A contacts (#20–#10 AWG, up to 55 A/pole, tin- or silver-plated wipers — Anderson-datasheet-cited), the family ladder through PP75 (~120 A class) to PP180 (~350 A/600 V class, Anderson-hosted datasheet), the SB-family distinction (where color is the key), dovetail/roll-pin discipline, and the ARES/RACES "Red Right, Tongue Top" orientation standard with its sharpest fact — of four red/black arrangements, one mates reversed (new diagram hobby-powerpole-system.svg). Includes a dedicated "wrong answer for signal" section (scale, undocumented dry-circuit lane, no latch/shield/key) and the unsealed-outdoors rule. A "PP15/45 in detail" section carries the datasheet numbers everyone using the standard connector should know: plating-specific no-load wire-to-wire life (1,500 cycles tin / 10,000 silver) with the separate IEC test regime kept distinct, the 600 V UL class, the light-wire contact's #20–#16 AWG barrel and the contact-matches-the-wire-not-the-load principle, and the low-detent (~3 lbf) and finger-proof catalog variants — all from Anderson's DS-PP1545. Cross-linked from the RC battery page (which keeps its summary row) and the professional high-current path; roadmap item 17 added.

  • Barrel Jacks and Polarity Traps (docs/hobby/barrel-jacks.md) + Screw Terminals, Spring Clamps, and Ferrules (docs/hobby/screw-terminals.md) — deep pages for the two most-used, least-documented connector classes, closing hobby roadmap items 7 and 9. Barrel: the OD×ID size-pair system and the 2.1-in-2.5 loose-mate trap, the polarity symbol decoded (with a new diagram), the switched third pin, and per-part ratings — structure/polarity/switched-contact claims cited to Same Sky's (CUI's) own selection guide and a representative 2.5 A rating to the PJ-102A datasheet; EIAJ RC-5320A named without reproducing its tables. Terminals: the clamp-style map (rising clamp / direct screw / spring cage / lever / pluggable, with a new cross-section diagram), pitch-tracks-voltage and the 5.0-vs-5.08 pluggable trap, torque and gauge-range discipline, DIN 46228-style ferrules, and the never-tin-stranded-wire rule stated with its fracture/thermal-expansion mechanism, now cited to Phoenix Contact alongside a maintenance-free screw-design counterexample. Both wired into the sidebar, family capsules, decision guide, §12.3, hobby landing lists, roadmap, and needs-source table. The terminals page additionally carries a "Lever connectors for real power work" section with WAGO 221 figures at datasheet level: both size classes (the little-known 6 mm² / 41 A-class 221-6xx line alongside the 4 mm² class) and both rating systems on the identical parts (IEC 32/41 A at 450 V vs. UL 20/30 A at 600 V per UL 486C), the fine-stranded-without-ferrules selection logic vs. push-in clamps, and the mounting-carrier/enclosure discipline — all cited to WAGO's own family and product pages.

  • U.FL / IPEX-class board micro-coax joins the RF/GPS/radio decision path — family bullet (assemble-once, extraction tool, pigtail-to-bulkhead pattern, IPEX/MHF naming chaos), search term, and decision-field entry, with a Hirose series-page citation recorded in both source-notes copies (mating-cycle figure deliberately unquoted pending the exact datasheet). Closes the audit finding that the RF path covered MCX/MMCX but not the most common dev-board antenna connector.

  • RC Battery Connector Landscape (docs/hobby/rc-battery-connectors.md) — the hobby track's answer to "what connector is on this battery?": identification table and traps for Deans/T-plug, EC3/EC5/IC, Traxxas-style, Tamiya-style, bare bullets, MR/MT trios, Powerpole, and RCY, with a new house-style ID-silhouette diagram (hobby-rc-battery-id.svg). Deliberately rating-free except Anderson Powerpole PP15/45 figures cited to Anderson's own datasheet; other genuine-part ratings added to the hobby needs-source table, and the roadmap/coverage lists updated. Cross-linked from the XT page, families capsule, decision guide, and hobby landing.

  • DEUTSCH Decode & Tooling Worksheet (docs/tools/deutsch-decode-worksheet.md) — the family's Tools-page counterpart to the 38999 decode worksheet, derived from the deep dive's §7 (DT/HD part-number decode) and §4 (solid 0460/0462 vs stamped 1060/1062 contact lines and their non-interchangeable crimp tooling) with citations carried over and zero new claims; linked from the deep dive, the Tools index, and the sidebar. Closes the audit's tools-asymmetry finding for DEUTSCH.

  • DEUTSCH deep dive (docs/deutsch.md) — a full 38999-style deep dive, supplemental and site-only (not a canonical numbered section), covering every size of the industrial DEUTSCH range: DTM / DT / DTP / DTHD, HD10 (including the SAE J1939-13 diagnostic connector), HD30 / HDP20, DRC, and the Autosport lines, plus the solid-vs-stamped contact-system trap, sealing/wedgelock discipline, keying, and a DT part-number decode. All figures are family-level and cited (TE pages and catalogs, with distributor/industry references labeled where a TE-hosted equivalent is pending). Two new house-style line-art diagrams (deutsch-dt-exploded.svg, deutsch-contact-sizes.svg); the §3.2 J1939 photo is reused in context. Cross-linked from §3.2, the rugged-on-a-budget path, the Connector Selection Packet, the 26482 page, the hobby track's graduation page, engineering home, and the README; new sourced DEUTSCH row in the comparison matrix; new Wedgelock glossary entry; source-notes rows added in both copies.

[0.10.0] - 2026-08-12

v0.10 — Audit Hardening + Release Tooling

Everything from the 2026-07 consistency audit through the 2026-08 punch-list remediation and closeout: licensed photos and ID-card line art across the family pages, three new templates and a new decision path, the intern-onboarding guide, single-sourced version strings with a CI drift guard, and a validated two-PDF release pipeline.

Audit 2026-08 — punch-list remediation

  • Verified the 2026-08-11 audit's footer-drift and stale-hobby-banner findings against the served live site: both were already fixed and deployed (the audit hit cached pages); no code change was needed.
  • Fixed CITATION.cff version drift (0.8.1 → 0.9.0) and added version single-sourcing: scripts/bump-version.mjs rewrites every version call site from one command, and CI now fails on drift (--check in build.yml).
  • Hobby landing "What this guide covers" no longer overpromises: dedicated-page topics and capsule-only topics (servo, screw/spring terminals, USB/barrel-jack power, Grove) are now listed separately, matching the Hobby Source Notes roadmap.
  • Engineering Start Here grid: added the missing Sealed Enclosure Feedthrough card, and gave the Micro-D card a real path — a new Micro-D / compact high-rel decision path built entirely from the already-sourced §3 material (Glenair MIL-DTL-83513 citation carried over). Every Start Here card now links a decision path.
  • Three new Tools & Templates pages, all derived from existing sourced content with citations carried over and zero new claims: M12 Coding Cheat Sheet (§8.1), 38999 Part-Number Decode Worksheet (§7.8), and a deliberately criterion-free Harness Inspection Checklist (§4/§7.9/What People Forget; acceptance values stay with A-620 and the contact system's application spec).
  • New worked example: M12 Sensor Interface — full A-coded/X-coded selection reasoning (candidates, rejections, service-model logic), with the scenario marked as an illustrative composite under review against the sanitized real-world selection; all connector facts by reference to §8 and the decision paths.
  • New shared page: How to Use This Guide with an Intern — a mentor's four-week overlay on the 30-day plan, exercises, decision paths, and templates, linked from the landing page and both track homes.
  • New release-pdf.yml workflow: builds two per-track PDF artifacts (hobby, engineering) by crawling each sidebar's pagination chain, on version tags and on demand.
  • Needs-source backlog clarified in both source-notes copies: rows are now explicitly closable vs per-design — permanent; hedge wording on all per-design-affected pages re-verified.
  • Distributor-citation pass: Molex MX150 now cites Molex-hosted MX150L literature (verified; sealing claim tightened to IP67); MIL-DTL-24308 citations gained the DLA ASSIST locator plus a revision-currency note (current is Rev K w/Amend 1; clause refs checked against Rev G); Aptiv Metri-Pack documented as having no stable manufacturer-hosted system datasheet (TTI-hosted copy retained per the acceptable-interim rule).
  • Usage and Attribution now states explicitly that the Tools & Templates pages are documentation content under CC BY 4.0.

Audit 2026-08 — closeout

  • PDF release pipeline validated end-to-end via manual dispatch: hobby PDF 75 pages, professional/industrial PDF 239 pages; track boundaries (hobby ends at Hobby Source Notes, engineering at Usage and Attribution), new-page coverage, and image embedding verified; no workflow fixes needed.
  • Every MIL-DTL-24308 claim verified against Revision K w/Amendment 1 (5 December 2022) retrieved directly from DLA ASSIST: all clause numbers and figures unchanged from what the site cited (durability requirement §3.5.16 / test §4.5.18, 500 cycles, −55 to +125 °C, sizes 20/22D, arrangements per Table A-I). Citations now name Rev K with the ASSIST locator; the distributor-hosted Rev G copy is dropped.
  • OG/social card regenerated for the two-track site with an editable in-repo source (assets/og-card.svg, rendered by npm run og-card via a new sharp devDependency); visual backlog item 0 closed.

Images pass — a picture on every connector family page

  • Added licensed photographs (Wikimedia Commons / Flickr, CC BY / CC BY-SA, credited per-image in captions) to: Dupont headers, JST-XH, JST-SH/Qwiic/STEMMA QT, JST Is Not One Connector (generic "JST-style" header + the red RCY pair), XT connectors (XT60 mating ends), MIL-DTL-38999, M12, §3 (DE-9 D-sub + Deutsch-style J1939 plug), and the high-current DC decision path (Anderson Powerpole workbench). No manufacturer marketing photography used.
  • Added eight original line-art "ID card" diagrams in the existing house style: Dupont/0.1", JST-XH, JST-PH, JST-SH, JST-SM, XT30/60/90, 38999 Series III profile, and 26482 bayonet coupling.
  • Added a "Photographs and diagrams" licensing section to Usage and Attribution; photos remain under their own CC licenses and are not relicensed by the project.
  • Updated the hobby visual backlog: item 4 (JST-SM diagram) done; item 3 (JST size silhouettes) partly covered by the per-series ID cards.
  • Added internal/PHOTO_BACKLOG.md — full-site audit of where real photographs beat line art, with per-item sourcing status and a bench-photo shooting guide.
  • Commons harvest pass: ten more licensed photos wired in — ratcheting crimper + ferrule spread (crimping), SMA-vs-RP-SMA + BNC (RF path), M12-X vs RJ45 (rugged Ethernet), SG90 servo lead / WAGO 221 / barrel-jack pair / IDC-10 (family capsules), and a public-domain ITT Cannon CIR circular pair (§2 categories).

Audit 2026-07 — consistency + source-hardening fixes (T1–T10)

  • Hobby source status is now tracked in exactly one place (Hobby Source Notes); the appendix dashboard carries a track-level pointer instead of a duplicated per-topic summary (T1).
  • Hobby landing banner normalized to the canonical version story ("Introduced v0.8, expanded v0.9") (T2).
  • Hobby figures/diagrams verified rendering correctly with alt text — no change needed (T3).
  • XT30/XT60/XT90 page rewritten with sourced AMASS attribution and ratings (rated vs momentary current — the digits are the momentary figure), temperature-rise conditions, and genuine-vs-clone caveats (T4).
  • Grove ecosystem warning sourced to Seeed documentation: 4-pin 2.0 mm connector whose signal pinout varies by port type (T5).
  • Plain STEMMA (JST PH 2.0 mm) explicitly distinguished from STEMMA QT (JST SH 1.0 mm), sourced to Adafruit, cross-linked from the PH page (T6).
  • Citation-quality swaps: USB-C cycle figure now cited to the USB-IF document library (Mouser PDF relabeled vendor secondary); GlobalSpec standard listings replaced with direct IEC webstore links (with current-edition -111:2025 / -104:2026 scope figures); Han E figures now cited to HARTING's own product page instead of a distributor listing; stale redirect URLs refreshed (T7).
  • M12 coding table: L-coded corrected to 4+FE and T-coded to 4 contacts per DIN EN 61076-2-111, sourced to binder product documentation (T8).
  • Dupont page now names the sourced lineage: Berg's Mini-PV → DuPont → FCI → Amphenol, with MiniPV® confirmed as a current Amphenol 2.54 mm family (T9).
  • Roadmap ordering (servo above barrel jacks) verified already satisfied — no change needed (T10).

[0.9.0] - 2026-07-08

v0.9 — Hobby Guide Expansion + Two-Track Polish

  • Added dedicated hobby family pages for the highest-value connector families: Dupont / 0.1-inch headers, JST-XH, JST-PH, JST-SH / Qwiic / STEMMA QT, and XT-class DC power connectors (JST-SM keeps its existing dedicated page).
  • Tightened or sourced remaining hobby-specific claims: Qwiic/STEMMA QT connector conventions now cited to SparkFun/Adafruit documentation; the XT "AMASS-designed" claim softened to a common-usage description pending manufacturer documentation; JR/Futaba servo wording replaced with cautious verify-the-documentation language; Grove kept qualitative with Seeed docs as the named target.
  • Reframed the professional §12 page as "Consumer, Hobby, and Prototype Connectors at the Bench-to-Product Boundary" — the transition-risk page, explicitly deferring identification/buying/crimping detail to the hobby track.
  • Added an editorial roadmap ("Recommended next deep pages") to Hobby Source Notes; new pages are marked initial, not complete.
  • Improved the two-track landing page: kicker labels, button-style CTAs with hover/focus states, subtle per-track accents, mobile spacing — existing tokens only, no brand changes.
  • Documented that top-level brand navLinks are unsupported in project mode (feature request against the brand package; TODO recorded in config) — no unsafe config added.
  • Flagged the OG/social card as stale for the two-track site in a new visual backlog (internal/HOBBY_VISUAL_BACKLOG.md); themeConfig.image unchanged and valid.
  • Added "Bad Connector Listings, Corrected" — five marketplace-description makeovers plus a reusable good-connector-description template.
  • Added two hobby diagrams (pitch measurement; housing vs contact) in the existing line-art style, plus the prioritized visual backlog.

The hobby track remains initial/seeded — not complete or fully sourced.

[0.8.1] - 2026-07-08

Fixed

  • Corrected project navigation so the top-left brand/home link returns to the guide landing page instead of leaving the site.
  • Updated site and repo metadata from the old professional-only framing to the two-track Connector Field Guides framing (Docusaurus title/tagline/brand name, CITATION.cff, agent instructions, CONTRIBUTING).
  • Added CI validation (.github/workflows/build.yml) running typecheck and the Docusaurus build on pushes and pull requests.
  • Tightened hobby JST source-status language: all six commonly-met JST series (XH, PH, SH, GH, SM, RCY) are now cited series-by-series to official JST PDFs, with genuine-vs-clone caveats; only directly cited claims are marked verified.
  • Replaced hardcoded internal sidebar URLs with Docusaurus doc references.
  • Cleaned up the v0.8 changelog wording.

[0.8.0] - 2026-07-08

v0.8 — Two-Track Guide Structure

  • Added a top-level routing page between the Hobby Connector Field Guide and Professional / Industrial Connector Field Guide.
  • Preserved the existing professional guide content and moved its start page to /engineering while keeping existing professional URLs intact.
  • Added the initial Hobby Connector Field Guide at /hobby, including Start Here, The Big Idea, unknown-connector identification, JST Is Not One Connector, pitch measurement, Common Hobby Connector Families, JST-SM and LED string connectors, power vs signal, crimping, marketplace kits, buying mating parts, when hobby connectors are not enough, a hobby decision guide, and Hobby Source Notes.
  • Added shared cross-track infrastructure: Glossary, Connector Identification Workflow, and Hobby or Professional? boundary page.
  • Added bidirectional links between the hobby and professional tracks.
  • Added hobby source-status notes and a source-needed backlog. The hobby guide is initial/seeded, not complete or fully sourced.
  • Aligned README, engineering home, Source Notes, and package version to v0.8.

[0.7.0] - 2026-07-08

v0.7 — Reference Hardening + Design Nuance Pass

  • Added source hierarchy guidance distinguishing program requirements, standards, QPD/QPL listings, manufacturer documentation, and distributor metadata (guide §6.1 + Source Notes); distributor-listing citations flagged as orientation-only.
  • Added "mil-spec style ≠ qualified" language: qualification requires the exact manufacturer, part number, slash sheet, and QPD/QPL status.
  • Added evidence/source-tracking fields (source document, revision/date, requirement type, verification status, verified by, risk-if-wrong; plus datasheet/drawing/application-spec revisions, QPD/QPL reference, and derating-curve check) to the selection checklist, cable drawing, ICD, comparison matrix, and design-review templates.
  • Tightened sealed automotive connector language ("strong middle ground," not guaranteed ruggedness) and made IP-rating cautions configuration/test-condition-specific.
  • Added "ratings are system-level / not a permission slip" warnings near the §3 tables, comparison matrix, and quick-reference appendix, with rating-context fields in the checklists.
  • Revised shield termination guidance: one-end vs. both-ends vs. 360° backshell is system- and frequency-dependent, documented per design with an EMC rationale — never a universal rule; shield-strategy fields added to templates.
  • Added minimum RF and fiber connector decision-field tables (orientation-level; no performance values asserted).
  • Updated Source Notes: v0.7 entry, source hierarchy, new heuristics, and backlog items for distributor-citation replacement and RF/fiber values.

[0.6.0] - 2026-07-08

v0.6 — Source Cleanup + Safety Pass

  • Aligned public version/status language across the guide (v0.6 Beta — Source Cleanup + Safety Pass), with a consistent educational/reference disclaimer on the homepage and Source Notes.
  • Reworked Source Notes into a source-status dashboard: verified claims, engineering heuristics, example-only values, and an explicit needs-source-before-v1.0 backlog.
  • Updated M8/M12 standards language: IEC 61076-2-104 scope no longer over-anchored on a single edition's contact-count summary; IEC 61076-2-111 power figures labeled as edition/configuration-specific examples; added a record-the-edition/datasheet-revision reminder.
  • Added explicit energized-connector / load-break / hot-plug safety warnings to the high-current DC path (and cross-references on the removable-module and rugged-on-a-budget paths), plus load-break/touch-safety/fault-current/inrush fields in the selection checklists, ICD template, design-review checklist, and worked selection packet.
  • Added IPC/WHMA-A-620 as the general cable and wire harness workmanship/acceptance reference (program/customer requirements still control) across the workflow, templates, and checklists.
  • Added source-verification reminders for ratings, tooling, qualification, and environmental limits.

[0.5.0] - 2026-07-06

Added

  • Rugged-on-a-budget decision path — routes makers and small teams to sealed automotive families (Deutsch, Superseal, MX150, Metri-Pack) before jumping from hobby parts to MIL-DTL-38999.
  • Removable machine module decision path — industrial rectangular / Han-style connectors for serviceable modules with mixed power/signal/data.
  • RF / GPS / radio decision path — orientation-level routing for controlled-impedance RF paths (SMA/TNC/N/BNC, coax contacts, impedance/torque/shielding discipline).
  • MIL-DTL-26482 mini deep dive (docs/mil-dtl-26482.md) — a supplemental, site-only page (not a canonical numbered section); covers the Series 1 vs Series 2 termination trap and when to prefer 38999 / M12 / sealed automotive. Reuses the sourced 26482 figures from docs/03 plus a newly-cited Series 1/2 distinction.
  • Worked Connector Selection Packet example — a full requirements→decision-matrix→architecture→pinout→BOM→cable→ICD→review packet for a rugged field-robot module.

Changed

  • Homepage bumped to v0.5 Public Beta; scenario cards now link to their decision paths, a new rugged-on-a-budget card was added, and the stale "no dedicated path yet" text for the removable-machine-module and RF/GPS/radio cards was removed.
  • Sidebar, Decision Paths overview, and Examples overview updated for the new pages.
  • package.json version bumped to 0.5.0.
  • Source notes updated: the new decision paths and worked example are intentionally qualitative (no new exact ratings); source discipline preserved.

[0.1.1] - 2026-07-02

Changed

  • Documentation site migrated from MkDocs Material to Docusaurus 3 (see internal/Docusaurus_MIGRATION_REPORT.md). The [0.1] entry below describes the original MkDocs structure and is retained as history.
  • Source-verification pass completed: the 38999/M12/D-sub/Micro-D/JST/USB-C/IP claims are now cited inline; Source/connector-engineering-field-guide.md remains the canonical guide source (see README).

[0.1] - 2026-06-19

Added

  • MkDocs Material documentation site structure split from the canonical guide source
  • Appendix source-notes page copied from the source-verification backlog
  • Engineering-document templates derived from the guide
  • Rugged control box example placeholders derived from the guide exercises
  • Open-source project metadata files for review and contribution workflow

Changed

  • Navigation updated to match the structured documentation website layout
  • Existing split pages refreshed from Source/connector-engineering-field-guide.md
